Cybersecurity Recommendations From Merchant-Banker Trade Group

The Merchant Financial Cyber Partnership, a consortium of trade groups in the financial and retail sectors, has issued a set of eight recommendations aimed at enhancing cybersecurity in their industries. The recommendations fall into three categories: threat information sharing, cyber risk mitigation and advanced card technologies. One concrete suggestion is that financial institutions and merchants hold  “table-top” exercises, simulating a major attack. The Merchant Financial Cyber Partnership includes, among others, the Financial Services Roundtable, the American Bankers Association, the American Hotel & Lodging Association, the International Council of Shopping Centers, the National Grocers Association, the National Restaurant Association and the National Retail Federation.
