Cybersecurity Brings Tense Corporate-Gov’t Alliance

In an advisory targeted to the manufacturing industry, Foley & Lardner attorneys consider the government’s evolving cybersecurity strategy and how it will intersect with the private sector. They look at some new federal laws, at government promotion of best practices, what came out of the recent Cybersecurity Summit at Stanford University, and a new DHS monitoring center where government and business delegates could work together to continuously monitor threats. The Administration, by executive order, has also established a voluntary program that facilitates release of classified cyber threat information to companies and promote information sharing among companies and industries. This program, the attorneys write, continues “to highlight the tension – and, in many corporate circles, the mistrust – of the government to honor company privacy rights and individual personal information.”
