Cyber Threat Intelligence Report, Second Quarter 2018

From cybersecurity company eSentire, a report on the current cyber-threat landscape. It determines that the three most affected industries are biotechnology, accounting and real estate, and it details in technical terms the specific targets and the modus operandi of the attackers. Phishing “continues to be a popular and widely employed attack method due to its simplicity and success rate,” according to the report, and something called “Emotet,” adapted from its original status as a banking trojan, is the most commonly identified malware. The report is based on intelligence gathered from more than 2000 “proprietary network and host-based detection sensors.”
