A product increasingly in demand has no standard form and has  not been around long enough to have been clarified by legal precedent, so it’s especially important to review and understand the language of any policy being considered. A post from the firm Traub Lieberman outlines the basics. The most common form of third party liability protection is “network security liability” coverage, for failure to protect against unauthorized access and other risks to the insured’s computer systems. Many policies also cover a different kind of expense: the cost of the company’s response to the event, including managing public relations, computer forensics, notification of customers and business interruption.
