Cruz Targets Trump’s Sister As SCOTUS Heats Up Campaign Trail

Though Donald Trump has said he was kidding when he suggested last year that his sister, Third Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Maryanne Trump Barry, would make a good Supreme Court Justice, his rival in the Republican presidential candidate race, Ted Cruz, is using those comments to question Trump’s decision making abilities. “[I]t’s good to stand with your sister,” Cruz said to reporters this week, “But Donald’s sister was a Bill Clinton-appointed federal appellate judge who’s a radical pro-abortion extremist. … [W]e’re one justice away from the Supreme Court writing the Second Amendment out of the Bill of Rights.” Cruz said this election should be about “electing a president who will ensure every Justice he puts on the court is a principled constitutionalist.”
