Are Costs Of Electronic “Copies” Recoverable?

A court may award the prevailing party the costs of making copies or other materials required for the case, but what about the costs associated with producing electronic documents? The Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has ruled that those costs are recoverable, though only for the actual cost of creating the document and not for preparatory or ancillary costs leading up to or in conjunction with duplication. The decision lays out in some detail the technology of what that means.
