The government of India, seeking foreign investment, has been actively addressing corruption issues by bringing its anti-corruption legislation in line with international standards, as set out in the United Nations Convention against Corruption, and by implementing its recently passed whistleblower statue. It’s likely to be some time before a robust enforcement regime is in place, but in the meantime the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) has been filling the void. Kobre & Kim attorneys Vasu B.
