Concussion Lawsuits To Hit Colleges

As many as 50 class action lawsuits are expected to be filed against several college football conferences and numerous colleges, under the aegis of Chicago PI attorney Jay Edelson. “The reason that we’re bringing so many of them instead of one giant one is because the NCAA successfully argued to the court that we shouldn’t be allowed to bring just one big case,” Edelson told the AP. The conferences named in the lawsuits are the Southeastern Conference, the Big Ten, the Pac-12 and the Western Athletic Conference. Edelson is a successful PI attorney, loathed in Silicon Valley, who is said (by Edelson) to have won more than $1 billion in settlements from technology companies in lawsuits that alleged, among other things, privacy violations.
