Company Pummeled, Microsoft Deputy GC Promises Stricter Privacy

When a former employee was suspected of stealing trade secrets and compromising the security of Microsoft and its products, the company ransacked his Microsoft Hotmail and message accounts. The company found what it was looking for, but then received a torrent of criticism, although the search apparently was legal and not in violation of company policies. Now, John E. Frank, Microsoft deputy GC and vice president, says the company is changing those policies.
