Clinton Lawyer Pushes Back On Trump Recount Rant

In response to recount requests filed by Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein, Donald Trump went on one of his now-familiar Twitter rants. Trump made baseless claims that millions of illegal votes were cast, which prevented him from winning the national popular vote. Stein last week filed a recount request in Wisconsin, which Trump won by less than 30,000 votes. She plans to file for recounts in Michigan and Pennsylvania. In a blog post over the weekend, Marc Elias, who served as general counsel for Trump’s Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, explained the Clinton camp’s decision to participate in the recount efforts. “Because we had not uncovered any actionable evidence of hacking or outside attempts to alter the voting technology, we had not planned to exercise this option ourselves, but now that a recount has been initiated in Wisconsin, we intent to participate in order to ensure the process proceeds in a manner that is fair to all sides,” Elias wrote in a post on Medium.
