Chinese IP Courts Finally Up

The PRC Supreme People’s Court has announced the establishment of  long-awaited specialized intellectual property courts. DLA Piper attorney Horace Lam posts the gist of the announcement on the firm’s website. The courts will function in three cities: Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzho. In Beijing and Shanghai they will have jurisdiction over cases in their respective cities, while the Guangzhou Intellectual Property Court will have jurisdiction over the entire Guangdong province. The Beijing court was established earlier this month, and the courts in Shanghai and Guangzhou will be established before the end of the year.
