Chinese EB-5 Investors Sue Las Vegas Hotel

A lawsuit filed in  Los Angeles County Superior Court claims that 60 Chinese investors put more than a half-million dollars each into a Las Vegas hotel project in 2014, on the promise of profits and green cards under the EB-5 visa program. They haven’t seen any return on their investments, nor have they received green cards. According to the lawsuit, the paperwork the investors signed was in English, a language few of them speak, and they were thereby misled. Hotel revenue has been less than 50 percent of projections, and fewer jobs than required by the EB-5 visa program were created. The suit also alleges that the pending sale of the hotel would violate a requirement of the program that calls for a “sustained” investment.
