Chinese Companies May Provide More Documents To U.S. Regulators

It has been difficult to obtain information from Chinese companies listed on U.S. exchanges during the course of litigation or regulatory proceeding. Chinese companies, or in some cases Chinese affiliates of U.S. companies, maintain that releasing the information would subject them to penalties under Chinese state secret laws. But in two recent cases, the Chinese regulatory authority did allow information to be released to the SEC and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. Is there a policy change in the works?
