China Far Ahead of Europe and the U.S. in Apparel Trade Marks

The latest Thomson Reuters State of Trademarks report finds that among the top ten countries, Turkey and the UK had the greatest increase in number of trademarks. But China was far ahead in absolute terms, with nearly 925,000 trademarks in 2012, more than three times the number for second-place United States. The category “Clothing, Footwear, Headgear” was dominated by China, with 69 percent compared to 15 percent for the United States, eight percent for France, four percent for Japan and four percent for Turkey — with all of them ahead of formerly dominant Italy.
