CenturyLink Accused Of Massive Customer Ripoff

First a former employee sued the company, saying it fired her for calling attention to the company’s aggressive sales incentive scheme. After learning about Wells Fargo’s regulatory problems she became increasingly alarmed, she says in her complaint. Then Geragos & Geragos, an LA-based litigation firm known for representing celebrities and taking on high profile consumer cases, filed a class action alleging that CenturyLink customers have been defrauded, and that damages should be set at “between $600 million and $12 billion, based on CenturyLink’s 5.9 million subscribers.” A spokesman for the company said the former employee failed to report her allegations to a company hotline and that her claims were inconsistent with company policy. The fact that a law firm “is trying to leverage a wrongful termination suit into a putative class action lawsuit does not change our original position,” the spokesman said. CenturyLink is in the midst of a $34 billion merger with Level 3 Communications Inc, and in June after the lawsuits were announced the stock price of both companies took a big hit.
