Cash Flows Freely In Pennsylvania Supreme Court Race

Candidates for the three open seats on Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars, the top-billed race for May 19’s primary vote. Buying television ad time is a major expense for the candidates. Mitch Kates, campaign manager for Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Judge Kevin Dougherty – who raised $700,000 in the previous campaign cycle, and whose campaign has already aired ads in the Pittsburgh area – said “a race for Supreme Court cannot be a shoestring operation.”
