CA State Bar Says No Sex With Clients

The State Bar of California has approved a rule that forbids lawyers from having sex with clients, although some exceptions are noted. This rule updates and expands a previous rule that allowed consensual sex, as long as it wasn’t coercive, was not payment for services, or did not cause the lawyer to perform legal services “incompetently.” The new rule is part of a larger rewrite of the CA rules, which must go before the California Supreme Court for the final okay.
