Bundy And Sons Face Federal Conspiracy Charge

Cliven Bundy and two of his sons who engaged in a standoff with federal authorities at their Nevada ranch two years ago, leading to a similar effort in occupying an Oregon wildlife refuge last month, will face a host of federal conspiracy charges. If convicted, the defendants – who also include a radio host sympathetic to the Bundys’ cause, and an anti-government activist – could face up to 20 years in prison, and fines of up to $2.5 million for extortion and assault on federal officers. The 51-page indictment says the defendants “planned, organized, and led” a “massive armed assault against federal law enforcement officers” in April 2014.
