Blagojevich’s SCOTUS Appeal Falls On Deaf Ears

The Supreme Court will not take up former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s appeal, leaving the former Democratic rising star to serve out a 14-year sentence for corruption charges. The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in July upheld the charges against Blagojevich, which included attempted extortion from campaign contributors, wire fraud, and other crimes. Blagojevich was arrested in 2008 while still governor, and impeached in 2009. He began serving a federal prison sentence in 2012. He is the fourth former Illinois Governor to be convicted of criminal charges since 1973.
