‘Birther’ Judge Makes Sexist, Racist Comments From Bench

San Diego Superior Court judge Gary Kreep was a conservative political activist who questioned President Obama’s citizenship while he campaigned, and once he was on the bench insulted defendants, commented on female attorneys’ appearance, and made unnecessary reference to people’s ethnicities. California’s Commission on Judicial Performance has said his conduct during his 2012 campaign and during several hearings in 2013 violated the state’s rules on judicial ethics. The 17-page ruling lists several incidents in which Kreep made crude comments in the courtroom, such as asking a woman accused of prostitution, “Is it you like the money? Or you just like the action?” Yet Kreep remains on the bench.
