Bipartisan Support for SCOTUS Term Limits

A 66 % majority of Americans support a 10-year term limit on Supreme Court Justices, according to a recent Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll. Support was bipartisan. Only 17 percent favored the current system of appointments for life. Making such a change would require an amendment to the U.S. Constitution, and there appears to be no interest in Congress to push for term limits. Notably, respondents also favored taking Supreme Court appointments out of the hands of the executive branch: 48 percent said they would support elections for high-court justices.
