Bill From Senate Republicans Targets “Micro-Unions”

A Republican senator has introduced a bill that would target small independent unions, often called “micro-unions,” that represent a subset of workers in a given enterprise. The “Representation Fairness Restoration Act” was introduced last week by Georgia Sen. Johnny Isakson. “When the National Labor Relations Board decided to allow micro unions,” Isakson said in a statement reported in The Hill, “they tipped the scales dramatically in favor of unions and neglected 77 years’ worth of precedent in collective bargaining.” Isakson’s bill would mandate that a given workplace could have only one union.
