Barry Bonds’ Obstruction Of Justice Appeal Back Before Court

More than a decade after he testified before a grand jury regarding illegal performance-enhancing drugs, Barry Bonds is seeking to have his obstruction of justice conviction thrown out. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals will convene an 11-judge panel to review Bond’ testimony, which led to a 2011 conviction by U.S. District Judge Susan Illston. A three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit upheld the conviction unanimously last year, but a majority of the court’s 28 judges moved to have a larger panel review the case. A decision will likely not be made until 2015.
