Arizona Law Says So Long, LSAT

The University of Arizona College of Law conducted a study that it claims proves that the GRE predicts first-year law school grades just as well as the LSAT. Given the findings, Arizona Law plans to start taking GRE scores for admissions, without waiting for formal approval from the ABA. “We found where the tunnel was that anyone could have driven through if they’d brought enough gas and a big enough truck,” said the school’s dean, Marc Miller. The ABA’s managing director of accreditation and legal education, Barry Currier, said the ABA plans to conduct an independent study on the GRE’s worthiness. He also cautioned other law schools against loosening their reliance on the LSAT, saying Arizona’s study is only applicable to that program.
