Are Legal Services About To Get Uberized?

Since 2008 there has been a paradigm shift across large swaths of the economy, a shift that has “facilitated a decentralized delivery structure, creating communities that connect sellers with buyers,” says Mark A. Cohen in his Legal Mosaic blog. The emblematic example is Uber vis a vis the taxi cab business, but according to Cohen there are indications that some basic elements of this shift are about to hit the legal industry, and you could say that at the retail level it has already commenced by way of LegalZoom. Can the corporate segment of the market be far behind? “My bet,” Cohen writes, “is that law is headed down that road, and its Uber will appear soon.”
