Antitrust Settlement Lets LegalZoom Operate in N. Carolina

The North Carolina state bar and legal document provider LegalZoom have settled an antitrust lawsuit that was filed by LegalZoom earlier this year. The suit was filed in the wake of a U.S. Supreme Court decision, North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners v. Federal Trade Commission, which was decided in February. In the proposed consent agreement, lawyers will vet documents that LegalZoom sells and LegalZoom will inform customers that the templates are not a substitute for advice from an attorney. The company is said to be expanding the range of services it provides nationally, including in North Carolina.
