Another Peril For Celebs! Copyright Suits By Papparazzi!

It’s bad enough when a paparazzo snaps a photo of a celebrity having a bad hair day, or doing something regrettable. Now those sneaky bastards are taking photos of the rich and famous that make them look even better than they plainly are, then suing them for copyright infringement when they post those very same pictures on their respective social media accounts. Victims include Khloe Kardashian, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Lopez, and Ariana Grande. Odell Beckham Jr., the well-represented, on-again off-again wide receiver for the LA Rams, sued a news site for extortion after allegedly receiving a demand for $40,000 when he shared an image of himself on Instagram. And Instagram struck again when Supermodel Gigi Hadid was sued for posting a picture of ex-boyfriend and world-class smoldering pouter, Zayn Malik, on her “Instagram story,” a longish chronicle of her life and loves. The University of Buffalo Law and Entertainment Forum advocates changing copyright law to protect high-profile glamourpusses from such legally-sanctioned predation.
