Alan C. Greenberg, Architect Of Bear Sterns, Dead At 86

Alan C. Greenberg, who built Bear Stearns and, some have said, shares responsibility for its collapse around the financial collapse of 2008, died on Friday in Manhattan at age 86. He began at the firm as a clerk in 1949, and became chief executive in 1978, chairman in 1985 and chairman of the executive committee in 2001.
