Actor Hopes Man Who Sued Him Died “Screaming My Name”

In July 2015, actor James Woods sued a Twitter user calling himself “Abe List” for saying he was a cocaine addict. The $10 million suit was exploring what kind of social media language can be considered defamatory. Then Abe List died, and his lawyers withdrew an appeal on the case. When Woods was informed of the reason for the dropped appeal, he tweeted that he hoped Abe List died “screaming my name.” The defamation case will continue, and sources told the Hollywood Reporter that Woods hopes the development means he will learn Abe List’s true identity. Kenneth White, one of Abe List’s lawyers on the case, said there is no intent to reveal his client’s identity. “We’re concerned about his family being harassed and [there’s good reason] based on how much they are gloating over his death,” he said.
