Act Now To Protect Trademarks Under New Chinese Law

Amendments to China’s trademark law become effective on May 1. The new law “aims to modernize and streamline the trademark process, strengthen trademark enforcement and make trademark squatting and counterfeiting more difficult,” writes DLA Piper attorney Horace Lam. “But it can also yield opportunities for trademark hijackers.” He lists five steps that firms can take to protect their trademarks under the new law.
