A Rush To Trademark “Fake News”

The day after Donald Trump called CNN “fake news,” three U.S. companies applied to trademark the term. One of those companies, Film Roman, is said to have sketched The Simpsons for more than 20 years, until early 2016. It’s now at work on an adult comedy that will be called “Fake News,” according to the company owner. Another filing was from the group behind the popular board game Cards Against Humanity. Currently they are at work developing a “Fake News” board game. The third applicant, a company in the clothing business, apparently has in mind using the term on t-shirts and other apparel items.
