A Robust Cybersecurity Budget and How To Get It

If you’ve been appointed to negotiate for your cybersecurity budget you need to frame your argument properly, writes Xuyen Bowles. To do that you must have a quantifiable budget and a case for why you need it. The latter can be framed using the Gordon-Loeb Model, developed by researchers at the University of Maryland. That model contextualizes risk assessment specifically for cybersecurity, taking into account the potential loss from a breach; the probability of a breach; and the way cybersecurity investments reduce this probability. The article describes how to calculate that information, and other methods for negotiating a robust cybersecurity budget.
