A Formidable Warrior In The Conservative Battle To Reshape The Judiciary

He heads an advocacy group with the innocuous name “the Article III Project” and is a prodigious money raiser. Orrin Hatch, the former Utah Senator, called him “the tip of the spear,” Justice Gorsuch, for whom he once clerked, called him “the general” and Justice Kavanaugh has referred to him as “a warrior.” It’s would be hard to explain to a high school civics class exactly what he does, but he has played a central role in reshaping the judiciary, probably for the lifetime of many people reading this post. Apparently he’s not averse to being called a loose cannon, explaining to a reporter that he thinks “it is a loose cannon that happens to fire pretty accurately.” He did have to back step from a recent tweet, however, one that featured a blood-spattered Mitch McConnell holding the severed head of Merrick Garland. Under criticism he quickly took it down, saying the image didn’t work without the understanding that it came from the Onion, and that he personally had the utmost respect for Garland.
