A Death Row Prisoner’s Fight For A Hip Replacement

He  has developed degenerative arthritis, but his request for a hip replacement has been turned down twice. Now his attorney has marshaled new evidence, including an injury after a recent fall. An ex-warden fears ridicule, but current officials say there is another reason the request hasn’t been granted and it’s not the cost, which is said to be over $50,000. The inmate, who has been convicted of multiple murders including four in 1989 because the thought one of the victims had reported him for a parole violation, has been on death row for more than 20 years.
