Cookies, Tracking, Hit Some Resistance

Stanford Law School’s Center for Internet and Society, Mozilla, and Opera Software are teaming up in a “war on cookies,” according to an article in InfoWorld. They have launched a “cookie clearing house” to identify sites that are planting certain types of tracking software without the computer user’s consent. Mozilla is said to be bucking some pressure from organizations that rely on cookies to gather data for advertising and other purposes.
