Zuckerberg Should Be a Defendant In DC Lawsuit, Says AG

Washington D.C Attorney General Karl Racine has filed a motion to add Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg as a defendant in a consumer-protection lawsuit filed in 2018 accusing Facebook of misleading its users about the privacy and security of their personal data. Racine wants Zuckerberg held personally liable in the Cambridge Analytica scandal. The AG explains that he made the decision after reviewing company documents as part of discovery in the lawsuit, and says it became clear that Zuckerberg participated in each decision that led to Cambridge Analytica’s mass collection of Facebook user data, and the company’s misrepresentations to users about how secure their data was. Most of the new allegations are redacted due to a protective order in place in the litigation. A Facebook spokesman calls the allegations meritless.
