Beleaguered Law School Loses Another President

One year ago the ABA placed San Diego’s Thomas Jefferson Law School on probation for being out of compliance with several standards required to maintain accreditation. Among the problems, a low rate of passage for bar exams and deceptive statistics about post-graduation employment. That happened shortly after Joan Bullock took over as the school’s new president and dean, and she largely escaped blame for the situation. Nevertheless, she’s throwing in the towel as the school’s problems mount. Reduced enrollment led to a downward spiral that included vacating the building it was based in, ranked as the third most impressive school building in the country, which had been one of the major attractions for students. The move, and the inadequacy of the new location, caused many students to ask for tuition refunds. Linda Keller has been appointed Interim Dean, and Karin Sherr as Interim President. Apparently, the ABA is waiting for the results of the July 2018 California bar exams before it takes further action.
