After realizing he’d failed to fax a key document, he changed the date on his fax machine and then sent it off, backdated. Minutes later he regretted what he’d done. After some initial calls to other lawyers, he reported himself to the state bar’s grievance board, declaring that he stood ready to give up the practice of law. Although the matter has not yet been resolved, it looks now like that won’t be necessary.
