The Annual Super Bowl Trademark Party

The NFL has its IP wrapped up tight and it doesn’t suffer meddlers lightly, although it’s loosened up a bit from 2007 when it went after a church that advertised a “Super Bowl” party where it planned to charge admission. This year, as it has in the past, the NFL sued Does 1-100, “large-scale, professional counterfeiters” of Super Bowl merchandise. Plaintiffs also sought a temporary restraining order that would allow authorities to preemptively seize counterfeit merchandise. This is has become an annual campaign, reports this article from Forbes, Counterfeiters are the main target but others, including small establishments that host Super Bowl parties, also risk legal problems.
