Airline’s Uniform Manufacturer Faces Multiple Lawsuits

Their uniforms make them sick, say American Airlines flight attendants. The airline has chosen a new supplier, but lawsuits in California and Illinois, one of which names the airline as a co-defendant, aren’t going away. The claims include negligence, product liability and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Attorneys want the uniforms out of the workplace as soon as possible, and seek compensation for employees whose health and livelihoods have been negatively impacted. More than 4,000 flight attendants, and about 100 pilots, have filed reports of uniform-related health problems since the uniforms were introduced in September 2016. According to plaintiffs’ attorneys, chemicals used to manufacture the uniforms are behind the health problems. American, and the uniform manufacturer, Twin Hill, say the uniforms are safe and claim to have test results that prove it.
