Managing Partner Shot To Death By Colleague

Major Langer, senior managing partner of two Los Angeles area law firms, was shot to death by a partner at one of the firms, who then killed himself. The assailant was John Mendoza, 58, a workers’ compensation attorney who was a frequent guest on LA television and radio stations. The shootings occurred at an office in Long Beach. A third victim, Ronald Beck, was in stable condition and expected to survive. Beck ran the law firm of Perona, Langer, Beck, Serbin, Mendoza and Harrison, and was also managing partner of the Larry H. Parker law firm. Beck and Parker have appeared in locally famous Southern California television commercials for Parker’s firm that conclude with Parker promising: “We’ll fight for you!”
