Yelp Yells Foul On Google

In 2012 Google settled an FTC complaint by agreeing to stop claiming third-party content is its own. Now Yelp’s vice president of public policy has sent a letter to acting FTC Chairman Maureen Ohlhausen, saying“Google should be held accountable and subject to remedies.” The letter was also sent to all 50 state attorneys general and the EU’s competition chief. Yelp has been nudging authorities to end what it calls anti-competitive behavior from Google, which recently appealed a $2.9 billion antitrust fine handed down by the European Union for favoring its own comparison shopping tool in search results.
