Child Psychologist Sues Walt Disney

Several times between 2005 and 2009, child development expert Denise Daniels says she pitched Walt Disney Co. her idea for “The Moodsters,” where a child encounters several characters based on moods or emotions. In 2015, Disney’s Pixar launched “Inside Out,” a movie based on a similar premise. Daniels has sued, saying she pitched the idea with the understanding that she and her team would be compensated if Disney used the idea. “’Inside Out’ was an original Pixar creation, and we look forward to vigorously defending against this lawsuit in court,” a Disney spokesman said in a statement. Daniels claims she called Pete Docter, who directed “Inside Out,” and spoke for an extended period of time about her idea. Daniels seeks unspecified damages.
