Kushner Rethinking Legal Team

Jared Kushner, son-in-law and chief advisor to President Donald Trump, is reportedly contacting high-powered criminal lawyers about representing him in the ongoing special counsel investigation into Russia’s influence in the 2016 election. Kushner’s lawyer, Jamie S. Gorelick, was a law partner at WilmerHale with Robert S. Mueller III, now the special counsel in charge of the investigation. The Washington Post cites anonymous sources who claim Gorelick urged Kushner to consider other representation in light of that connection. If Kushner hires a new lawyer, the Post says that person may either supplement or replace Gorelick’s team. Currently, Gorelick is preparing Kushner to meet with investigators for the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. According to the Post’s sources, Kushner’s circle has reached out to Abbe D. Lowell, a prominent trial lawyer who represented Jack Abramoff.
