Explosive Growth In IoT Security Attacks

Some information in this article will be too technical for a lot of readers, but the main point is clear enough. There are already billions of “Internet of Things” devices – with that number expected to grow into the tens of billions by 2020 – and the software for those devices is under relentless attack. In what’s called a honeypot experiment, researchers from Kasperky Labs put out what looked like internet devices, and it was only seconds before they registered the first attempts at a breach. Over a 24-hour period the number of attempts numbered in the tens of thousands.
