There are good reasons to think of a data breach not as an event, and not as an information technology issue, but rather as a “complex business crisis with a discernible life cycle.” In a Today’s General Counsel article, Foley Hoag attorneys outline the elements of that cycle, which they designate as “preparation, management, compliance and litigation.” Thinking through the cycle in advance, they write, “can put you on stronger footing to handle that crisis, and its risks.”
