LexisNexis Targets Lower-Cost Legal Research Services

Legal research firm LexisNexis has seen many upstarts come along and offer similar, and cheaper, services. Fastcast, CaseText, Casemaker, and Google Scholar offer less expensive – or free – access to legal information. In a recent tweet, LexisNexis claimed: “Low-Cost Legal Research = Low-Value Results. LexisNexis Equips You with Much, Much More.” But, Lisa Needham writes for Lawyerist, “Basically, the attack is ‘only LexisNexis has what LexisNexis has’ – summaries, headnotes, etc. But that overlooks the idea that many lawyers don’t actually need or want those things, and they certainly don’t want to pay for them.”
