Justice Breyer’s Cell Phone Interrupts SCOTUS Case

Though cell phones are strictly forbidden in the U.S. Supreme Court courtroom, this week Justice Stephen Breyer was busted when his cell phone rang during oral arguments. Breyer quickly reached down to silence the phone, and his colleagues on the bench broke into smiles and suppressed laughter. Lawyer Neal Katyal, who was in the middle of answering a question when the phone rang out, did not miss a beat. Supreme Court spokeswoman Kathy Arberg later called the incident an “oversight.”
