Most Lucrative BigLaw Practice Areas Lack Women

The percentage of female attorneys is lowest in BigLaw practice areas that pay the most, according to a recent study. The study found that women are well-represented in niche practices, such as immigration (60 percent), family law (48 percent) and health care (45 percent), but their representation drops in high-earning areas like litigation (35 percent), taxation (31 percent) and corporate (30). Jacquelyn Knight, a legal recruiter at Major, Lindsey & Africa, told Law.com that women may opt for niche practices in hopes of having more flexible work hours.
