Alabama Gov. To Resign

Governor of Alabama Robert Bentley will reportedly resign to avoid impeachment following allegations that he abused his position to cover up an affair with a former political advisor, Rebecca Mason. Bentley’s ex-wife recorded phone calls between the two in which Bentley said, “If we are going to keep doing what we did the other day we are going to have to start locking the door.” Nevertheless, Bentley denied having a sexual relationship with Mason. He allegedly used state funds to pay for a cover-up. Mason has already resigned. Lt. Governor Kay Ivey will succeed Bently, becoming Alabama’s second female governor.
